I have a salami sandwich for lunch. Ugh. So instead of thinking about various Indian places that deliver in this area, I am going to update my blog. (Yep, as you can see, married life has changed me SO MUCH.)
In other news, did you know canned pumpkin doesn’t exist anymore? Apparently the pumpkin harvest was so bad last year there is NO canned pumpkin. Which means I have to go out, buy a pumpkin, roast it, get the tasty innards out, and turn that into a pie.
Or I could just make a sweet potato pie because it tastes EXACTLY the same. So instead I will do that tomorrow. And maybe it’s just my area, but sweet potatoes in the stores are like the size of BABIES. Seriously, I think I just bought a sweet potato that is smaller than my friend’s newborn son. I am having serious problems resisting the urge to name it.
I just realized I have a bunch of Logan’s old diapers that no longer fit him at the house. Holy cow I am totally gonna diaper a potato when I get home.
In other news, I am making a deal with God. I KNOW. I KNOW. This is not the place to talk about God. But for those of you who do not know, I loves me some God. And not to worry, I am not a preechy kind of lady. But here’s the thing – I am kinda gonna make a deal with God. See, I volunteered to teach Sunday school this coming year. YES. YES I AM AWARE THAT I SWEAR TOO MUCH AND I DRINK AND I AM A HORRIBLE EXAMPLE FOR THE CHILDREN. But thankfully, Christianity is about redemption, so I got that going for me. So here’s my deal: If I enjoy teaching Sunday school, and there is a way for me to pay for it, I will become a minister.
YEP. Betchya didn’t see that one coming, did you?

You can name the sweet potato “yummy” and call yourself the minister of death. Just saying…
Mmmmmmmm Minister of Death. Well, I baked it last night so I could mash it up tonight. Mmm PIE!
So since I am the official baker of sweet potato pies around here, does that mean we can host the new happily married couple for Thanksgiving this year?
I dunno yet…
I’m down with that, especially if it involves moms sweet potato pie!
Studying Christian religion is very interesting. You should totally do that for fun. Be warned: studying the gospels is what stopped me being a Christian.
I spent the last three years in Bible study, so I think I will be ok. It really does rely on what kind of teacher you have too.
It makes me wonder what you read. because if you said Leviticus made you stop being a Christian, I would totally understand that. But the Gospels? I am so confused.
It was an academic, rather devotional exercise. You don’t need a teacher, but you do need to look at the material as a whole, and with honesty. Cherry-picking passages is what allows people to put what they like onto the figure of Jesus and his teachings (of which he didn’t leave much recorded).
Yeah see that is what I was thinking. I tend to base my religious choices on the words in red – aka what Jesus actually said and did. And don’t get me wrong, I do not believe the Bible is how people should be living their lives – no one expects you to leave the house if you find mold, you shouldn’t sell your daughters into slavery, etc – which is why I tend to focus on what Jesus did and said. And, yanno, helping people who need it.
Well, good luck. Thousands manage to study theology properly and remain Christians, so chances are you will.
Enna… you need to get the Thumbs up plugin or something..>>> I totally want to thumbs up this comment!!
Baby Sweet Potato!!!
Sacrifice it! In the name of fall!!!
*licks chops*
Pumpkins aren’t hard to roast. Just make sure you get a PIE (or “sweet”) pumpkin and not a jack’o'latern pumpkin. They are different. The one you want isn’t going to have defined ridges [more round] and will be heavy for its size.
Cut in half, score both sides, spray with oil, place fleshy side on a cookie sheet with some water, 350 until mushy and scoop it.
Das est all!
I totally printed this out, because let me tell you, I had no idea there were different kinds of pumpkins. Dang.
And I roasted that Potato Baby up. Oh it is gonna make a good pie!
Here’s the article I got most of my information from, though they don’t phrase it as awesomely as I do: http://www.bonappetit.com/tipstools/ingredients/2008/10/pumpkin
I’ll attest, roasting a fresh pumpkin= awesome.
And you know what’s in it… nothing against the fine folks at Libby’s
Ok now I need to do this. It’s a NEED. I love pumpkin…
